Elusive Authenticity
A 4-Week Somatic Series on Self-Trust and Authentic Expression
You’re capable, engaged, and paying attention.
You care about how you live, how you show up, and the impact you have.
And still -
There are moments when you feel yourself overriding what you know. You push through. You stay composed. You keep going, even when something inside you is asking for a different pace or direction.
This isn’t a failure. It’s a pattern many thoughtful, responsible people develop to stay functional and connected in a demanding world.
Elusive Authenticity
Elusive Authenticity is an online somatic class series for women and gender-expansive folks who want to come back into clearer relationship with themselves—not by fixing habits or chasing insight, but by learning how to listen to the body with more precision and trust.
Through gentle, awareness-based movement, we’ll explore how your nervous system organizes under pressure: where effort increases, where sensation goes quiet, and how choice narrows without you noticing. From there, something simple but meaningful becomes possible—more room to respond instead of react.
This work is subtle. It’s also direct. When you learn to sense yourself more clearly, authenticity stops being an idea and becomes a lived experience in small, daily moments —
Saying no without bracing
Slowing down without guilt
Decisions take less effort
Boundaries feel steadier
Expression becomes more honest—without needing to be loud or performative
Many people drawn to this work are deeply engaged with life—in their families, communities, work, and the causes they care about.
If you’re someone who cares about justice, equity, and collective well-being, you know that sustained engagement requires a regulated nervous system.
This series offers a way to restore capacity and responsiveness, so you can stay present and effective in the world without losing connection to yourself.
What We’ll Be Doing Together
Each week, we’ll engage in gentle somatic education — guided movement explorations designed to help you sense yourself more clearly from the inside. This work is informed by the Feldenkrais Method®, though no prior experience is needed.
This isn’t exercise or performance. Most lessons are done lying down or seated, moving slowly and within a comfortable range. There’s nothing to achieve and nothing to get right.
The body is concrete. When you change how you move — even in small, precise ways — you give your nervous system new information. Neurological patterns begin to shift. And as those patterns shift, the emotional and mental habits built on top of them can soften as well.
As we explore subtle variations of movement, you’ll notice where you brace, where effort increases, where you override quieter signals. Rather than analyzing those patterns, we’ll work directly with the physical organization underneath them. Often, when movement becomes easier and more efficient, clarity follows.
All movements can be done in ways that work for your body, including staying still and simply noticing.
This is a contained space to practice change at the level where it actually happens. Over time, that practice becomes something you carry into daily life.
About the Facilitator
Elusive Authenticity is led by Sharon Costianes, a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner and somatic educator with more than 20 years of experience guiding people back into relationship with themselves. Sharon has spent decades working with bodies and nervous systems in moments of vulnerability, transition, and change—and she knows how to hold space without rushing, fixing, or taking over.
People often tell Sharon they feel safe with her almost immediately. They find themselves saying things they didn’t plan to say, feeling things they usually keep contained. This isn’t because she pushes for disclosure—it’s because her presence is steady, attuned, and deeply respectful of each person’s pace. Sharon listens closely, tracks what’s happening beneath the words, and stays with people as they find their own way through.
Her teaching is shaped by long-term practice, lived experience, and a clear understanding of how nervous systems work under pressure. She has worked with singers, activists, caregivers, educators, and people in all kinds of life transitions—many of whom are outwardly capable and inwardly exhausted. Sharon doesn’t offer quick fixes or dramatic breakthroughs. She offers precision, patience, and a way of working that restores trust in the body’s own intelligence.
This is work led by someone who has seen a lot, stayed present, and knows how to create a container where honesty can emerge naturally—and where people don’t have to perform, explain, or prove anything to be met with care.
