Elusive Safety
A Monthly Somatic Class for Queer Folx
(and Allies)
Pride was a riot.
It was rage and grief and joy and bodies in the street refusing to disappear.
That spirit is not history. It is alive right now — in every trans person showing up anyway, in every queer family holding the line, in every one of us who refuses to shrink.
We are in a fight. And we are not backing down.
But we also cannot stay in the fight if we are running on empty.
Queer joy is not a luxury. It is liberation. It is how we remember what we're protecting — and how we find the strength to keep going.
This class exists because joy, grief, rage, and rest can all live in the same body. And that body needs tending.
I built this for us.
I'm Sharon. I'm a queer cisgender woman with a gender-nonconforming wife and two kids — one of whom is non-binary. The attacks on our community are not abstract to me. They are my family. They are your family. They are us.
I'm also a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner with 25 years of experience working with bodies and nervous systems — and I know what it costs to carry what we are carrying right now without a place to put it down, even briefly.
Elusive Safety came from a simple, urgent truth:
We cannot pour from an empty nervous system. We cannot access our joy, our power, or our capacity to protect each other if we are chronically braced, exhausted, and dysregulated.
Building internal safety is not stepping back from the fight. It is how we sustain it.
What we'll do together
Each class is 60 minutes, in two parts.
Somatic Movement — 45 minutes
Gentle, awareness-based movement explorations rooted in the Feldenkrais Method®. Done lying down or seated, slowly, with nothing to achieve and nothing to get right. We'll work with how the nervous system organizes under pressure — where you brace, where you hold, where sensation goes quiet.
When movement becomes easier, something else opens too. More room. More choice. More capacity to respond instead of react — in the class, and in your life.
All movements can be adapted for your body, including staying still and simply noticing. No prior experience needed.
Community Connection — 15 minutes
We come back together. This is queer space — intentionally, unapologetically. Time to be seen by people who don't need things explained. Time to breathe alongside each other and remember we are not doing this alone.
This is not a processing circle. It is simply being together, in our bodies, in community.
This time is not an afterthought. It is part of the medicine.
This is our space
Elusive Safety is queer-centered. That means queer experience, culture, and community are at the heart of everything — the movement, the language, the room itself.
Allies are welcome. And if you're joining us as an ally, here's what that means here: you're a guest in this space. During community connection time, your role is to listen and witness — not to process your own struggles or center your experience. Show up with humility and genuine solidarity, and you will be welcome.
A note on Pride Month
We're launching in June — not as a gesture, but because the timing is true. Pride has always been an act of survival and resistance. So is building a nervous system that can sustain the work.
A version of this class was offered last year at Family Week in Provincetown. The room knew exactly what it was.
A homecoming into the body. Together.
We're bringing that here, every month, for as long as we need it.
This is for you if
The whole alphabet mafia is welcome here. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, intersex, asexual, aromantic, queer, questioning, two-spirit — if this community is yours, this space is yours.
You are feeling the weight of this political moment in your body and you need somewhere to put it down, even for an hour
You want to access your joy — not perform it, not force it, but actually feel it
You want to build internal capacity to keep showing up for your community without losing yourself in the process
You want to be in a room where you don't have to explain yourself or translate your experience for anyone
You are a singer, speaker, activist, caregiver, creative, educator, parent — anyone who gives a lot and needs a place to receive
You want to be with your people
Format & Details
Monthly via Zoom on the 4th Wednesday
at 1pm EST / 10am PT
ongoing, drop-in, no commitment required
60 minutes: 45 min somatic movement + 15 min community connection
The movement lesson is recorded — speaker view only, I will never share participant cameras. Registered participants receive a replay link valid for 24 hours after class. The recording stops completely before community connection time begins. That part of our time together stays in the room.
Community connection is live only. It is not recorded and it is not available on replay. If you want to be in the room with your people, you have to show up.
Cameras are always optional. I teach better when I can see how people are moving — it helps me guide the work more precisely. And your safety and comfort come first, full stop. Come however you need to come.
No prior experience needed — accessible to all bodies and all levels
First class: Wednesday, June 25th at 1pm EST / 10am PT
What it’s like to work with me
Queer joy is not the reward we get when the fight is over.
It is the fuel that keeps us in it.
Come be in your body. Come be with your people.
Investment
We want this space to be genuinely accessible. Elusive Safety is offered on a sliding scale — three tiers, same full experience for everyone.
Choosing a higher tier is an act of community care. It holds the door open for someone else in our community who needs it.
Pay what is true for you. Every choice is honored.
Community — $20 This tier exists because access matters. Choose this if cost is a real consideration right now. You belong here fully.
Sustaining — $35 You're paying fair value for the work and helping keep this space sustainable. This is the standard rate.
Supporting — $55 You have the means to pay a little more — and in doing so, you hold the door open for someone else in our community. Thank you.
Not ready to join yet — or can't make it this month?
Join the waitlist and we'll remind you each month when registration opens. No pressure, no commitment. Just a gentle nudge to come home to your body when the time is right.
